How many people attend a Get Real day?
100 youth, including 25 teen leaders, and a minimum of 25 adult
volunteers participate in each
Get Real day.
Who are the adult volunteers?
The adults are made up from teachers, administrators,
counsellors, parents and community members (including Police, AADAC,
Mental health, Family Services, Boys & Girls Club, store
owners/managers, etc.)
How do we identify student leaders for the
day?
Each Get Real day requires 25 student leaders. The teen leaders
are chosen by the school administrators and must be selected from all
the different groups in the school community.
How do we book this program for our school?
To book your Get Real day please call Wendy Walker at (403)
813-4186
What is included in the cost of a Get Real
day?
The fee for Get Real includes meeting with school
administrators, parents and teen leaders prior to the day to ensure
their full participation and follow-up discussions with school
officials.
Two facilitators deliver the one-day program in a fun and experiential
manner. All participants are given a journal at the end of the day in
which others are encouraged to write good things about the individual to
make youth and adults feel good about themselves in times of sadness or
loneliness.
How do you quantify or monitor the results?
A survey is given to the students prior to the participation in
a Get Real day and the same survey is given approximately one-month
after the Get Real day.
